The sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life: they give birth and increase, healing and mission to the Christian's life of faith.
Infant Baptisms are celebrated on Sundays at 1:30 pm by appointment only, except during the Lenten season.
Baptism Preparation Classes, required for parents of infants and young children (under 7), are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month in the Parish Center. Please contact the Parish Office at 732-257-7722 to register for the class.
Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. If sponsors are not from Saint Bartholomew, they must have a letter of eligibility from their Pastor. A practicing non-Catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor.
Children over the age of reason (7) are properly initiated within the RCIA program.
We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith.
This preparation process for anyone who seeks membership in the Catholic Church is an ongoing one. Interested persons are invited to begin the process at any time during the year.
Contact the Parish Office at 732-257-7722 for more information.
To prepare to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony couples must attend a series of sessions.
Individual Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Appointments may be made to receive the Sacrament at other times by calling the Parish Center at 732-257-7722.
Penance Services with individual confessions are also scheduled during the Seasons of Lent and Advent.
